YW: How do you identify and prioritize opportunities for professional growth within your practice area?


AARON: Professional growth begins at the matter level- complex transactions, grey‑area interpretations or sector‑specific challenges deepen my expertise. Watching policy shifts in data privacy, fintech, insolvency and arbitration helps us spot new client needs. Writing articles and analysing legislative changes strengthens knowledge, while leading client calls early ensures our advice is always grounded in each client’s business context. By managing small teams, speaking at panels and mentoring colleagues, I keep my leadership muscles active. Weekly knowledge sessions are crucial, and central to our firm’s team development. This mix of hands‑on work, thought leadership and teamwork focuses our growth and advances my skills.


YW: What’s the most significant shift you have observed in the legal industry in recent years, and how have you positioned yourself to respond?


AARON: Clients now expect lawyers to deliver business‑oriented advice, not just legal opinions. They want advisors who understand their industries, anticipate challenges, and support decision‑making. Regulatory reform in areas like data protection, insolvency, and capital markets is accelerating, so addressing client queries requires grasping how law, policy, and industry trends intersect. Lawyers must be proactive. At our firm, cross‑functional teams collaborate on complex matters that span practice areas, fostering a broader perspective. While technology and AI have boosted efficiency in research and document review, we see them as enablers, not replacements. We continue investing in core skills such as sound judgment, experience, and effective advice, which build trust and sustain client relationships.
